El primer disco en solitario de Fuse ODG, “Tina”, todavía no ha cumplido un año de vida y el músico inglés de origen africano ya tiene nuevas canciones circulando por el mercado. Es una auténtica máquina. De ese álbum de debut llegó a editar hasta seis sencillos, todos ellos con enorme éxito, especialmente “Antenna”, que llegó al séptimo puesto del Chart de Singles del Reino Unido, o “Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)”, que subió hasta la quinta posición, o “Dangerous Love”, que todavía fue mejor y se colocó en el tercer lugar.

Nacido en 1988 en Londres, Nana Richard Abiona se ha convertido en un rapero, músico y productor de enorme éxito bajo el nombre artístico de Fuse ODG. Hijo de inmigrantes africanos provenientes de Ghana, pasó su infancia en la tierra de sus padres antes de volver a la capital inglesa para continuar sus estudios de secundaria. Su capacidad para mezclar los ritmos del África negra y del rap y la electrónica le han convertido en una referencia entre los músicos más jóvenes. A esto contribuye además que Fuse ODG ha ayudado a los nuevos jóvenes a cristalizar sus aspiraciones musicales a través de su propio estudio móvil y la fundación del movimiento T.I.N.A. (This Is New Africa), disco y canción incluida, una iniciativa que animaba a los africanos a usar sus habilidades para la reconstrucción de sus comunidades y enorgullecerse de su patrimonio cultural. En 2011 viajó al país de sus progenitores para reunirse con el productor Killbeatz y el rapero Tiffany y trabajar juntos en la realización de un tema, “Azonto”, cuyo baile se convirtió en viral en la red, con millones de personas imitando sus movimientos.

La hábil combinación que Fuse ODG realiza de los ritmos afro, del hip hop y del rap le han situado en una posición privilegiada y a ser comparado con estrellas como K´naan o Akon, ganar el Premio de la Música Urbana como Mejor Artista Afro-Beat en 2012 o un Premio de Música de Ghana, el primer músico nacido en Inglaterra que lo gana. Además, su canal de YouTube tiene millonarias visitas y su colaboración con el rapero estadounidense Wyclef Jean en el tema “Antenna” arrasó en el Top Ten británico.

El pasado 10 de julio Fuse ODG puso en circulación el single “Only” a través de 3Beat Productions y pocos días después ha lanzado el videoclip de una nueva canción que se editará como sencillo el próximo 4 de septiembre, “Top Of The Charts”, un lugar en el que este músico africano-londinense coloca habitualmente su música. Por algo será.
