Auguste Piccard. We Invented Paris. Vídeo, letra e información.

Este colectivo no reúne sólo a músicos, sino que es algo mucho más amplio, un proyecto que también incluye a fotógrafos, cineastas y diseñadores gráficos, provenientes principalmente de Suiza y Alemania, con base en Basilea.

We Invented Paris surgió cuando el compositor y cantante suizo Flaviano Graber, artísticamente conocido como Flavia, dio por concluida su carrera en solitario y decidió iniciar una nueva etapa junto a Stefan Scneider (batería), Michael Rückert (teclados, bajo), Bruce Klöti (guitarra) y Tim Markgraf (director de cine). La banda atrajo desde el principio la atención por su música y, sobre todo, por su concepción de colectivo artístico y sus acciones creativas asociadas. Por ejemplo, ofrecer conciertos en casas de amigos y también de desconocidos o, como en su gira del 2011, dar mini conciertos en tiendas, cafeterías y por las esquinas y repartir entradas para el gran concierto de por la noche.

WIP también es conocido por la estrecha relación que han creado con sus fans y seguidores, por grabar su segundo álbum mediante una campaña de crowdfunding, por realizar a mano las carátulas de sus cd´s o por tocar en cualquier lugar, independientemente del tamaño del local o las condiciones. Esta frescura ha llamado la atención de sellos y patrocinadores como Rough Trade o Motor Entertainment y les ha reportado varios premios del público.

Una banda realmente muy activa, que ha realizado numerosas giras y ha participado en varios festivales, que desde su formación en 2010 ha grabado tres Ep´s, otros tantos singles y dos álbumes. El último, recientemente publicado con el sello Spectacular Spectacular (sí, dos veces), se titula “Rocket Spaceship Thing” y en él hay muy buenas canciones indie pop, emocionante y fresco, con algún delicado detalle de suave electrónica y un cantante con mucha personalidad y una encantadora voz. Buen grupo y pedazo de disco, sí señor.
