First Time. Vance Joy. Vídeo, letra e información.

Este joven músico australiano tiene de momento el futuro en sus manos. James Keogh, nacido en Melbourne en 1987 y artísticamente conocido como Vance Joy, firmó el pasado año 2013 un contrato con la multinacional discográfica Atlantic Records, un contrato para publicar cinco álbumes a lo largo de los próximos años. Esto demuestra que los directivos del legendario sello tienen una confianza ciega en el talento musical de este muchacho. Y eso prácticamente es un recién llegado. Algo habrán visto en él.

La influencia de la música en su vida le apartó de una brillante carrera como futbolista. En 2008 fue nombrado mejor jugador debutante en la liga de fútbol de su país, pero a pesar de todo, decidió abandonar el balón y dedicarse a sus canciones. Mientras, a todo esto, se licenciaba en Derecho y en Arte en la universidad. ¡Vaya tipo!

Su nombre artístico está sacado de un libro de Peter Carey, “Bliss”, en donde el abuelo del protagonista se llama Vance Joy

En enero de 2013 debutó con el single “From Afar” y un par de meses más tarde publicó su primer Ep, “God Loves You When You´re Dancing”, el cual incluía la canción “Riptide”, que era el nombre de un motel al que solía ir con su familia cuando era pequeño. Cuando la editó como sencillo se convirtió un éxito comercial en Australia, escalando a lo alto de las listas y obteniendo el certificado de triple platino. Para colmo fue elegida como soporte para una campaña publicitaria televisiva de las cámaras GoPro en Estados Unidos.

Su primer álbum saldrá el cinco de septiembre en Australia, unos días más tarde en Estados Unidos y el quince de ese mes en el resto del mundo. El disco se titulará “Dream Your Life Away” e incluirá los dos singles que ya ha avanzado, “Mess Is Mine” y este “First Time”. Después iniciará una gira por Europa, que desgraciadamente no incluye nuestro país, seguida por otra por Norteamérica.

El videoclip de “First Time” lo ha dirigido Sing J Lee, un especialista en este formato, quien ha tratado de recoger la alegría y la angustia que produce el primer amor. El soporte musical es el personal sonido de este cantautor de indie folk y rock alternativo, a mitad de camino entre The Pogues y el genio australiano Paul Kelly.
