Lana del Rey bien pudiera ser la representación musical del sueño americano. Con cierta adicción al alcohol a los 14 años y su ingreso en un internado privado a los 15 marcó su momento más bajo; de ahí en adelante llegó el caos, la huída hacia adelante, la música…

Comenzó componiendo canciones acompañándose de una guitarra por el mero placer de hacerlo, las interpretaba después en clubs de Nueva York para solventar su subsistencia en sus tiempo de estudios y, porque esas cosas a veces ocurren, una discográfica le ofreció un contrato. Y de ahí al éxito.

Un éxito que vino acompañado de un tema para el cine, Young and Beautiful, compuesto junto con Rick Nowels, y perteneciente a la banda sonora de la última versión cinematográfica de El Gran Gatsby.
